“St. Mark’s Lutheran Church was founded in 1950 and incorporated in 1951. Its sanctuary at the corner of Bird and Le Jeune Roads in Coral Gables was dedicated in 1955. Its national affiliation has changed over the decades as various Lutheran bodies have merged, and today it is part of the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).”
From 2003 to 2006 and from 2008 to 2014, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church maintained a partnership with the Lutheran Church in Germany. The shared St. Mark’s-German ministry allowed one pastor to “devote half his time to St. Mark’s and…half his time to German citizens living in South Florida.” German-language worship services were held during these periods to serve the local German community (Church History).
