“St. Augustine Parish, established in 1870, was the fifth German parish to be established in the city of Covington. It embraced the southern part of the city, its boundary line extending six miles to the south. In 1877, Reverend William Robbers was appointed pastor of St. Augustine Parish. Four years later, in 1881, Father Robbers and the Board of Trustees organized a corporation which was known as the “Roman Catholic German Church of Central Covington, Kentucky.” (Northern Kentucky Views; excerpted from History of the Diocese of Covington, Kentucky, on the Occasion of the Centenary of the Diocese, 1853-1953, by Rev.
