“The Rheinischer Verein was established in 1890 by Germans from the Rheinland. Originally to become a member of our club, you had to be from the Rheinland, Köln, Düsseldorf or Mainz the traditional Hochburgen des Karnevals. Karneval membership was exclusively male and traditions were strictly adhered to. Today, over a hundred years later we accept all sponsored newcomers. Our mission statement is to uphold our Rheinland Karneval traditions. Our Verein has several groups. Our focus is to promote our traditions of Karneval into a bigger family event.”
