“The German American Central Society (GACS) of Peoria, Illinois is the most active ethnic heritage organization in the Peoria Area. People of Germanic descent were prominent in the development of Central Illinois since the mid-1800’s. Originally, the GACS was created to support immigrant families moving to the area to help them become established. Today we continue to promote our strong German heritage and culture. We are proud hosts of very popular public events held year-round at either our club house, the Lindenhof, or at Hickory Grove Park. We also co-host the Peoria Oktoberfest with the Peoria Park District. Our members also enjoy participation in a wide variety of club activities. Membership is open to anyone regardless of heritage.
