“Built in 1849 by Joseph Gramelspacher and his wife Sophia (Friedman) Gramelspacher, this building is the oldest in Jasper, Indiana, was the first two-storey brick house, and is a unique example of the Federal Style in Southern Indiana, earning the Gramelspacher-Gutzweiler building a place in the National and State Historical Registers.
The Jasper Library purchased the Gramelspacher-Gutzweiler building in November 2012. The Jasper Library Annex houses the administrative offices for the entire Jasper-Dubois County Public Library system. The library also uses this building for meetings, classes, and events.” (Jasper-Dubois County Public Library website)
